2 screws, thats it. Easy to install your own laptop SATA harddrive. Now I have a nice portable back up drive in a sturdy case.
The startech enclosures are replacing all my other 2.5 inch drive enclosures. I do not like the tiny screws that come with the Startech enclosure. You cannot get replacements at your local hardware store. I also have other external drives where I keep disk images (e.g., WD Passport 500gb).
If you are in need of an enclosure for upgrading, cloning, or disk imaging, I highly recommend you consider the Startech. When I bought my second enclosure, an extra screw was included. I have both the SATA and IDE enclosures(had to buy the IDE direct from Startech). In my SATA enclosures I have used, drives of various sizes, including 320gb and 500gb drives. The Startech enclosures are perfect for my clone drives. I lost them for my first Startech enclosure.
It works for me. I own 5 Startech enclosures and will buy two more. The Startech work fine with my Windows ME, XP, Vista and W7 computers.I have four laptops and create "clone drives" for each so if a HD crashes, I can simply slip a clone drive into the system rather than having to go through the headaches of reformatting and reinstalling. I was able to use scotch tape to securely close the enclosure.
Very simple insert HD into the enclosure and actually using this is just like a flash drive. Data transfer seemed very quick and I had no problems.
Works great for me. Used for backups, I make an image of my HDD every week.
Received fast and item was just as described. Installed my HD with ease and everything worked well.
